New Navigation and Airport Infrastructure Improvements at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), Dhaka, continues to strengthen its position as Bangladesh's primary international gateway through significant investments in modern navigation systems and airport infrastructure.
One of the most notable developments is the commissioning of a new Air Traffic Management Centre (ATMC) equipped with advanced Communication, Navigation, Surveillance, and Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) technology. The new system enables real-time monitoring of Bangladesh's entire airspace, significantly improving flight safety, air traffic efficiency, and controller situational awareness. It also enhances surveillance over the Bay of Bengal and supports more accurate management of international overflight traffic.
The modernization replaces radar and air traffic management equipment that had been in service for several decades. With extended radar coverage, integrated surveillance capabilities, and automated traffic management, Bangladesh now meets higher international aviation standards while increasing operational efficiency and airspace capacity.
Alongside navigation upgrades, infrastructure improvements at HSIA, including the new terminal facilities and supporting airport systems, are expected to enhance passenger experience, increase aircraft handling capacity, and improve overall operational performance. These developments will better support commercial airlines, cargo operators, and business aviation flights operating to and from Bangladesh.
For international operators, these improvements translate into safer flight operations, more efficient air traffic management, reduced congestion, and enhanced reliability when operating within Bangladesh's Flight Information Region (FIR).
Advance Aviation Management Ltd. continues to monitor operational developments at Bangladesh airports and remains committed to supporting international operators with overflight permits, landing permits, ground handling coordination, and comprehensive flight support services across Bangladesh.
